Join the campaign team
We are looking for high performers who communicate clearly, follow through on commitments, and deliver finished work.
The volunteer team we are building
Independent and self-motivated
Campaign team members plan and complete work independently. They sustain their effort without repeated prompting or ongoing supervisor guidance.
Creative and collaborative
Campaign team members develop original solutions. They enjoy creating useful work, sharing their expertise, and learning from others.
Motivated by the work
Campaign team members contribute to improve Pueblo County’s quality of life. They stay committed without external rewards, personal credit, or ongoing validation.
Specialized expertise and completed work
Applicants offer demonstrated expertise in one or more skill areas. Selection considers relevant education, demonstrated competencies, and work that applicants can personally complete.
Applicants must have used their skills in practice. Specialized expertise and a record of completed work are required. General skills or management experience alone are insufficient.
Campaign team members understand internal customer satisfaction and internal client service. Consulting and other private-sector experience are welcome.
This is a working group
- Members will collaborate to complete assignments.
- Discussions will focus on the work, not symbolism, competing agendas, political debate or bargaining, or general opinion-sharing.
- Pueblo County’s Chief Administrative Officer will lead the team.
Skills we are looking for
GIS and mapping
Applicants produce layered maps and spatial data with GIS and ArcView (not just aerial photos).
Language technology
AI paired with LLM knowledge, generative or agentic AI credentials, neurolinguistics, or sociolinguistics are welcome (not simple AI users).
Economic analysis
Applicants use macroeconomics, microeconomics, RStudio, SPSS, and Excel pivot tables.
Law and policy
Attorneys and policy specialists bring land use law expertise or grounding in policy theory.
Development and finance
Recruitment, expansion, finance, pipelines, CSAT, NPS, and financial analysis skills are relevant. CPAs are welcome.
Advocacy
Contributors have direct experience with specific advocacy or grassroots campaigns.
Marketing and digital production
Marketing theory, media, Google Ads, Facebook ads, SEO, and website skills are relevant.
Project management
Contributors bring formal project experience and completed work. PMP certification is welcome.
Land use and infrastructure
Planning, development review, utilities, energy, water, and wastewater skills are relevant (engineers).
Professional writing
Writers employ appropriate syntax and rhetoric to specific content for a defined audience.
Participation requires completed work
Who may apply
This is a volunteer-only team. County employees, partner staff, and qualified individuals may apply. County employees should check with their supervisors.
Everyone produces work
Every campaign team member must personally complete substantive assignments. County Chiefs, managers, and directors may participate only when they personally produce work themselves.
Allocated work time
County employees need an allocated share of work time. Supervisors coordinate those allocations. Project assignments are a departmental priority alongside daily operations.
How often will the team meet?
The proposed schedule is one hour every two weeks. Team members will use a GroupMe chat, text messages, and email between meetings. The team will use a simple, inexpensive, modern project management platform to organize assignments and track work; the platform has not yet been selected.
How will the campaign sustain enough work hours?
The Chief Administrative Officer plans to reach out to local educational institutions to establish internship programs. Internships would supplement the work time allocated by County departments and the contributions of partner staff and volunteers.
CORE
Communicate with meaning
We tell and share with people what they need to know to do their work, in plain words, and in time for them to use it.
Own the follow-through
We do what we said we would do, by the date we said, and report back without being asked.
Results residents can see
We judge our work by delivering positive outcomes and what changes for residents, such as a job created or a housing unit built.
Exemplify leadership
Everyone leads by proposing better ways of working and meeting the standard we ask of others, without prompting.
